Description:
Steamin' With The Miles Davis Quintet is the fourth and final album in the celebrated series of recordings made by Miles Davis' legendary mid-1950s quintet for Prestige Records.
Featuring Miles Davis on trumpet alongside John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Philly Joe Jones on drums, the album captures one of the greatest jazz ensembles of the era at their most assured and inventive.
The six-track set moves effortlessly between hard-swinging numbers and beautifully restrained performances, including the energetic "Salt Peanuts", the elegant "When I Fall In Love" and the distinctive opening performance of "The Surrey With The Fringe On Top".
This copy is the Not Now Music 2023 vinyl edition, originally issued as part of the Walkin', Cookin', Relaxin', Workin', Steamin' 5LP box set. The box set has been opened and this LP is being offered individually.
